Drawing on more than 90 years of coating experience, DuraVision Gold UV is our most scratch-resistant coating yet. A heat-cured hard coat provides a stable base for the anti-reflective layers. Ion bombardment then improves adhesion, and ultra-thin layers of metal and ceramic oxides are built up into a dense, tough structure.
The coating averages 16 on the Bayer scale, the industry test for scratch resistance, where anything above 10 is considered very high.
Between dusk and night, the eye becomes more sensitive to shorter wavelengths. DuraVision Gold UV cuts residual reflections in these low-light conditions, so more light passes through and vision is clearer.
Although the coating has a golden reflection, the lens itself looks up to six times less yellow, giving a more natural, colour-neutral view. It also significantly reduces blue-light reflections in the 380–500 nm range compared with DuraVision Chrome UV.
