PhotoFusion® X goes well beyond a simple refresh. We’ve rebuilt photochromic lenses from the ground up, with a new lens material, quicker-acting dyes, and a carrier matrix engineered for speed.
ZEISS PhotoFusion X lenses come in a wide range of colours and multiple lens indexes, all built on ZEISS BlueGuard lens material as standard.
Built to fit what your customers deal with every day.
The human eye has to cope with light conditions that keep shifting. Step from indoors to outside, and brightness can jump to as much as 100 times higher, which is often what causes uncomfortable glare.
Going back and forth between clear glasses and sunglasses isn’t always practical, and sunglasses aren’t always within reach when they’re needed. In fact, fewer than 22% of consumers actually wear their sunglasses at the times they’d benefit from them.
Searches for “blue block glasses” keep climbing, and eight out of ten lens wearers now say protecting their eyes from blue light matters, particularly while indoors.
People’s lives keep them moving between different settings, which is fuelling demand for photochromic lenses. Add to that the growing number of progressive wearers over 45 alongside younger customers, and it’s clear people want a single lens that works all day, in any light.
Eye care professionals have long favoured ZEISS PhotoFusion for how quickly it reacts. Given rising demand, ZEISS decided to push light-reactive lenses further still, resulting in ZEISS PhotoFusion X.
ZEISS PhotoFusion X isn’t a small tweak to an existing product. It’s a full rethink of what a photochromic lens can be, engineered to give your business real momentum.

A new approach to photochromic lenses.
On its own, ZEISS BlueGuard lens material already screens out 40% of potentially harmful blue light. Add the photochromic treatment, and that rises to 50% indoors and up to 94% outdoors when fully tinted, while also giving full protection against UV radiation at all times.
This speed-tuned carrier matrix gives the molecules more room to fold and unfold quickly at peak performance, without losing the strength and durability you’d expect from a premium lens material.
Improved dye compounds, each under 0.3mm across, need only a small amount of light energy to react, making them faster than before.
